In order to process digested nutrients and detoxify chemical agents such as drugs and alcohol, the cells contains abundant amounts of smooth ER.

But to understand the issue, we must know that.....

Detox

The smooth endoplasmic reticulum also participates in the body's detoxification processes. In liver cells, the REL absorbs toxic substances, modifying or destroying them, so that they do not harm the body. It is the action of the reticulum of the liver cells that allows to eliminate part of the alcohol, medicines and other potentially harmful substances that we ingest.

With all this information, we can conclude that we find in the cells, the endoplasmic reticulum, which has among its functions to detoxify the organism.
