Read the passage from "enemies from within. " it is the result of an emotional hangover and a temporary moral lapse which follow

s every war. It is the apathy to evil which people who have been subjected to the tremendous evils of war feel. As the people of the world see mass murder, the destruction of defenseless and innocent people, and all of the crime and lack of morals which go with war, they become numb and apathetic. It has always been thus after war. However, the morals of our people have not been destroyed. They still exist. This cloak of numbness and apathy has only needed a spark to rekindle them. Happily, this spark has finally been supplied. Which best states the meaning of the rhetoric mccarthy uses in this passage?.

What best expresses the rhetoric that Mcarthy uses is his use of the metaphor about "spark" rekindling and making morals seem like a flame that can burn corruption.

We can arrive at this answer because:

  • The text presented above is part of McCarthy's speech against communism.
  • In this speech, he makes a strong appeal to pathos, encouraging the sentimentality of the public to make them believe that communism causes as much suffering, corruption, and despair to innocent people as war.
  • However, Mcarthy reinforces the appeal to sentimentalism by showing that Americans would not let these problems happen, as a spark rekindled in them the will to fight communism and its problems.

McCarthy presents this rhetorical appeal with the use of a metaphor, which shows that the determination of the American people is like a spark that can defeat corruption and communism.

The correct answer is C) the impact of the French Revolution.

Thomas Jefferson's reaction to the Jay Treaty as expressed in the letter was most directly a reflection of ongoing debates in the US over the impact of the French Revolution.

The Jay Treaty was signed by the government of the United States and Great Britain on November 19, 1794, in London, England. It was signed trying to resolve many difficulties and conflicts between the two nations after the Revolutionary War of Independence.

In a letter written to James Monroe on September 6, 1795, Thomas Jefferson expressed his concerns about the articles included in the treaty and the repercussions to the French government.
