Based on the information given, the method to design the sampling plan will be:

  • One should obtain the total number of students of the college = N
  • Obtain the number of students of the college to be selected for the sample = n
  • Assign a unique identification number to each student of the college
  • From a simple random sampling through a computer, obtain n random numbers from N numbers
  • The n random numbers obtained will form the desired sample.

It should be noted that sampling simply means the selection of a subset of individuals from a statistical population in order to estimate the characteristics of the whole population.
