Some similarities between the Mesoamerican and South American religiouns are that:
- they were polytheistic
- they based their religions on nature, so Sun and Water/rain Gods were among the most important
- they believed in ritual sacrifice.
It did not lead to the Civil War, what led to the civil war was the war of 1812. That was when U.S.A recognized that it needed to become stronger, and slaves were transported to the United States and put in the working class under bad conditions. Child labor and prejudice began there as well.
For the United States, the pursuit of freedom was born from its origins, and has a lot of relation to the war, taking examples that the Americans fought since the Independence of the 13 Colonies, later fought the American civil war, and finally the most important world war, World War II. For the history of the United States, freedom has been obtained through war with different powers and between the same country, to liberate America from slavery. Many of today's US bellicose interventions have been to liberate areas considered oppressed or dangerous, and although this is highly debatable globally, such actions have been pursued seeking freedom.
Dred Scott lost. The court said that he was a slave and therefore the property of the slave owner. They also said that being a slave makes him property, which means he had no right to appeal to the court in the first place because property has no rights. So basically, it was a huge loss for Dred Scott and slave rights.
