Summary Writing Read the extract below in order to complete questions 1 and 2. There is no doubt that the present system of tran

sport is woefully inadequate for a population of over one million people. The deficient service has been with us for an unduly long period of time. Over the years there have been several promises for an improved service by high-ranking officials of the National Transport Agency, but these have failed to materialize. Whenever there is a public uproar about the inadequate service, high-ranking officials rush to offer explanations for their inefficiency to a disbelieving public. There is no doubt that the number of buses has to be increased, especially for people living in remote areas. There is no doubt that a rapid rail system will improve the transportation system, and equally too, there is no doubt that an increase in the number of water-taxis will lessen transportation woes. The country's overall industrial and economic developments have enhanced the standard of living, and people have lost patience with an inefficient and inadequate transportation system. The fact that people have lost patience with the transportation system means that they will not tolerate a shoddy transportation system any longer. They are not content to suffer silently. They prefer to express their discontent in a loud, audible voice. The high-ranking officials of the National Transportation Agency must realize that the inadequate transportation system at present does not meet the needs of the people and something must be done now.

Which best explains how the author of Robin Hood structures the plot of the story?
docker41 [41]

Answer:

Read this excerpt from “The Medicine Bag.”

As he shook my hand, his coat fell open to expose a bright red satin shirt with a beaded bolo tie under the collar. His get-up wasn’t out of place on the reservation, but it sure was here, and I wanted to sink right through the pavement.

“Hi,” I muttered with my head down. I tried to pull my hand away when I felt his bony hand trembling, and looked up to see fatigue in his face. I felt like crying. I couldn’t think of anything to say so I picked up Grandpa’s suitcase, took his arm, and guided him up the driveway to our house.

Which detail from the text best supports the claim that Grandpa’s surprise visit creates a conflict for Martin?

Martin looks up and sees fatigue in Grandpa’s face.

Martin puts his head down and tries to pull away his hand.

Martin shakes Grandpa’s hand and says hi.

Read the paragraph.
Ede4ka [16]

Answer:

The addition that would make the paragraph more objective and effective is the use of facts and statistics to support the anecdote.

Explanation:

The paragraph that is presented only uses the emotional trigger by telling a story that can make people feel empathy but in order to make it more objective and effective it is necessary to use a logical approach instead of an emotional one, then the use of statistics and the addition of provable facts will make it more functional at being unbiased.
