Answer:

258

Step-by-step explanation:

Set up the two equations needed (x is the adult tickets and y is the student tickets)

x+y=372

6x+2y=1776

Solve by elimination

-2(x+y=372)

=-2x-2y=-744

Cancel like figures:

-2x-2y=-744

6x+2y=1776

= 4x=1032

x=258

258 adult tickets were sold.
1) Set up your 2 equations
• 6a +2s= $1776 (remember cost of each type of ticket goes with the total cost)
• a+s= 372 (number of tickets goes with the total number of tickets)
2) Easy way is to use your calculator and the matrix option
(first section: two rows/two columns)
(second section: two rows/one column)
•put the first section to the negative 1 power and multiply it by the second section
-> The answer for # of adult tickets are on top and student is on bottom. I have an example on the bottom
Or a second way
1) Set up equations
• 6a+2s=$1776
• s+a= 372
2) Rearrange bottom equation to use substitution method
• a= 372- s
3) Then substitute a with top equation and distribute
• 6(372-s) + 2s= $1776 = 2232-6s + 2s= $1776
4) Add like terms and solve for s
• 2232-4s= $1776
-> minus 2232 from 1176= -456
-> divide -4s by itself and -456
-> number of student tickets are 114
5) Plug in 114 to equation (a=372-s) Then subtract 372- 114 and you get the number of adult tickets! :)
Hopefully this helped <3

Increments of seven
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

Specific Learning Outcomes:

Solve problems that involve finding powers of a number

Description of mathematics:

In this problem students work with powers of numbers and, as a consequence, come to understand what is happening to the numbers.

Students also see how an apparently enormous and difficult calculation can be broken down into manageable parts. The students should come to realise that there are only a limited number of unit digits obtained when 7 is raised to a power. Further,  these specific digits 'cycle round' as the power of 7 increases. This cycle is 7, 9, 3, 1, 7, 9, …

The same is true of the digit in the tens place.

Sam bought a soda and a bag of chips for $3. If the soda cost $1.75, how much was the bag of chips?
Anarel [89]

Answer:

1.25

Step-by-step explanation:

The bag of chips is worth the same as the entire purchase minus the soda.

Therefore the chips are worth 3 - 1.75 = 1.25

Find the equation of the linear function represented by the table below<br> in slope-intercept form.
Arturiano [62]

Answer:

Equation of a line, y = mx+c

Slope (m)= (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1), let Y2=7, Y1=3 , X2=2 and X1=1

m=(7-3)/(2-1)

= 4/1

= 4

Picking any value of y and its corresponding x including m, put them into the equation of the line

y=mx+c

3 =4(1)+c

3=4+c

3-4=c

-1=c

y=mx+c

y=4x+(-1)

y=4x-1
