The following two options explain the reason why Cather describes the farm at the end of "A Wagner Matinee":

B. The description of the farm provides a stark contrast to what Georgiana has missed out on in cultured Boston.

C. Readers learn how much different settings affect the interests Georgiana has.

Aunt Georgiana and the farm:

 • Aunt Gerogiana gave up her life in Boston, where she was surrounded by culture, especially music. She moved to Nebraska with the man she fell in love with, and now she lives a harsh pioneering life.
 • Her nephew, Clark, takes her to a concert one day, when she comes to visit him. Aunt Georgiana's taste for music and culture is awakened, and she does not want to leave the concert hall at the end.
 • To her, leaving the hall means going back to the tough, culture-less life, so to speak, at the farm. Cather describes the farm, its rustic appearance, to contrast the two lives and two worlds.
 • Another reason is to see how Georgiana's interests are affected. At the farm, music is not the most important thing to her. But, back in Boston, she can fully enjoy it again.

What line of reasoning does Yevgeny first use with his son about taking his tobacco, and why does it not get through to Seryozha
miss Akunina [59]

In the story "Home" by Anton Chekhov, we learn about a boy and a father. The father, Yevgeny, is going to scold his son, Seryozha, for smoking.

The first line of reasoning that Yevgeny uses is that of being very angry. With a calm tone, Yevgeny tells Seryozha that he is very embarrassed of him, that he does not love him, and that he is no longer his son.

However, this does not get through to Seryozha. The boy is skeptical. This is a testament to the love that exists between them, as the boy knows that his father cannot be serious. Moreover, the father is not able to be as harsh as he wanted to be, by promising to kiss him after, and by sitting the boy on his lap.

Do you consider yourself a feminist? Why or why not?
galben [10]

Answer:

Yes, I consider myself a feminist

Explanation:

Feminism is the belief in the social, economic and political equality of the sexes. It argues that all limitations and restrictions placed against women must be withdrawn so as to bring about equality in all spheres of life.

I consider myself a feminist because first, I am a woman and I see no reason why I should not be on my side. Women for a very long time have been sidelined, relegated, prejudiced all because they are considered to be inferior to the men.

Feminism fights this injustice. It says that women deserve to be free, seen and heard, that women deserve to choose whatever life, career they want for themselves without judgement.

I believe in the equality of all sexes, I believe that women have been treated unfairly for a very long time and that needs to end, I believe in liberalism and freedom for all sexes. The same opportunities and preferences extended to men should be given to women too. I believe in gender equality.

Therefore I am a feminist.
