Answer:

x = -2 || y = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

5x - 2y = -4

x + 2y = -8

--------------------------------------------

5x - 2y = -4

5x = -4 + 2y

x = (-4 + 2y)/5

x + 2y = -8

x = -8 - 2y

Solving simultaneously:

-8 - 2y = (-4 + 2y)/5

5(-8 - 2y) = -4 + 2y

-40 - 10y = -4 + 2y

-40 + 4 = 2y + 10y

-36 = 12y

y = -3

if y is -3 then x is:

x = -8 - 2y

x = -8 - 2(-3)

x = -2

actor x3 + x2 + x + 1 by grouping. What is the resulting expression? (x2)(x + 1) (x2 + 1)(x) (x2 + 1)(x + 1) (x3 + 1)(x + 1)
aksik [14]

So for this, factor x^3 + x^2 and x + 1 separately. Make sure that they have the same quantity on the inside: x^2(x+1)+1(x+1)

Now you can rewrite the expression as: (x^2+1)(x+1) , which is your final answer.

Parisian sewer #1 contains 9 fewer gigantic rats—rats as big as cats, some might say—than parisian sewer #2. parisian sewer #2 c
Leya [2.2K]

There are different kinds of math problem. There will be 11 rats in sewer #1.

What are word problem?

The term word problems is known to be problems that are associated with a story, math, etc. They are known to often vary in terms of technicality.

Lets take

sewer #1 = a

sewer #2 = b

sewer #3 = c

Note that A=B-9

So then you would have:

A=B-9

B=C- 5

A+B+C=56

Then you have to do a substitution so as to find C:

(B- 9) + (C-5) + C = 56

{ (C- 5)-9} + (C-5) + C = 56

3C - 19 = 56

3C = 75

B = C- 5

B = 25 - 5

Therefore, B = 20

A = B - 9

= 25 - 9

=11

Therefore, there are are 11 rats in sewer #1
