The South relied heavily on steamboats for transportation of supplies and troops. They absolutely needed the Mississippi River to be effective in anyway during the war. The North also used it for transporting, but they had railroads. They were mostly concerned with keeping the South from using it.
Credit is essentialy a loan given that is paid back with interest. Arguably, credit caused the Great Depression. Many Americans invested in the stock market with credit when they did not have the money, so when a recession in the stock market occurred, many stockholders were in huge debt. Banks that lended money were out of money, and depositors lost money. This caused homes to foreclose, and because of the decrease in consumer purchasing power (people were in debt), companies laid off workers and unemployment rose.
This of course varies greatly depending on the individual, although for most, having a divine revelation means communicating with God in some what--or having God make himself "known" to the individual--meaning that He ultimately becomes more relatable through this communication. <span />
