1. Yes they both become different people on the outside and on the inside.

2. I believe so because Colin used to be so frail on the outside and now he is walking and can do basic things by himself. Also on the inside he is different because her not always crying and plus he is starting to care about himself and others. Now he believes he has a reason to be on the earth. Mary changed physically because she is not so skinny and bony like. She changed on the outside because she wasn't so "cold" she is now caring and not so spoiled. She also learned to dress herself and not let a maid or servant do it for her.
