Check the picture below.

the left and right are just two rectangles of 5x * 2x

the front and back are just two rectangles of 3x * 5x

the top and bottom are also two rectangles of 3x * 2x

since the area of a rectangle is just width * length then,

\bf \stackrel{left~right}{2(5x\cdot 2x)}~~+~~\stackrel{front~back}{2(3x\cdot 5x)}~~+~~\stackrel{top~bottom}{2(3x\cdot 2x)}
\\\\\\
2(10x^2)+2(15x^2)+2(6x^2)\implies 20x^2+30x^2+12x^2\implies 62x^2

Ivan and Kate live 40 miles apart. Ivan leaves his house at 8:00 a.m.
Triss [41]

Answer: Time at which the meet = 10:17:24 am

Step-by-step explanation: Speed of Ivan = 12 mph

Speed of Kate = 16 mph

Total distance traveled = Initial separation = 40 miles

Ivan leaves his house at 8:00  a.m and Kate leaves her house at 9:30  a.m

If t is the time of catch up after Ivan starting, time taken by Kate is t - 1.5,

We have

            Distance = Speed x Time

         Total distance traveled = Distance traveled by Kate + Distance traveled by Ivan

       40 = t x 12 + (t-1.5) x 16

        40 = 28t - 24

         28t = 64

             t = 2.29 hours

So after 2.29 hours of Ivan's starting they meet,

Time = 8:00 am + 2.29 hours = 10:00 am + 0.29 x 60 minutes = 10:17am + 0.4 x 60 seconds = 10:17:24 am

Time at which the meet = 10:17:24 am

Lenox ironed 1/4 of the shirts over the weekend she splits the remandier of work equally over the next 5 day if she has 40 shirt
Sonja [21]
So she has monday-friday (5 days) to iron 40 shirts. 40 divided by 5 = 8. Lenox irons 8 shirts per day. Thursday and Friday are 2 days, so you multiply 8 by 2 which equals 16.

40 divided by 5 = 8. 8 x 2 = 16

Hope this helps :)
