Colombia is on the western (left on the map) half of the northern part of the continent. It is a country that comes out on both, the Caribbean Sea, and the Pacific Ocean. On its northeastern part it has a border with the country of Panama, on its eastern side with Venezuela, Brazil on the southeast, Peru on the south, and Ecuador on the southwest.
People are naturally going to live near clean water sources, that way it's easier to survive, so people are more likely to live near or in an oasis than in a hot dry area like a desert.
