change the mixed number (1 1/8 to an improper fraction  = 9/8)

3/4 x =9/8

multiply each side by 4/3

3/4 x * 4/3 = 9/8 * 4/3

x = 36/24

x =3/2

x= 1 1/2 tsp salt
