Answer:When plants photosynthesize, they remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. When a large number of trees are removed from an area, the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere remain higher than they would be if the trees were present. Since carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, the presence of more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere means that more heat is trapped in the atmosphere. This causes temperatures near Earth’s surface to increase.

Deforestation contributes to global warming because not only is there less oxygen being produced, but there are fewer trees and other forms of vegetation to take in the carbon dioxide that is being produced. Thus leading to greenhouse gasses building up in the atmosphere causing it to be warmer because those gasses are trapping heat in the atmosphere.
