Answer:

In chapter 11 of Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel, "Uncle Tom's Cabin", George Harris meets a man named Mr. Wilson. When Mr. Wilson says "Why, to see you, as it were, setting yourself in opposition to the laws of your country." George answers by saying "_My_ country!" said George, with a strong and bitter emphasis; "what country have I, but the grave,--and I wish to God that I was laid there!" George says he has no country because he does not feel like his country respects him or anyone that is black. He says "_you_ have a country; but what country have _I_, or any one like me, born of slave mothers? What laws are there for us? We don't make them,--we don't consent to them,--we have nothing to do with them; all they do for us is to crush us, and keep us down. Haven't I heard your Fourth-of-July speeches? Don't you tell us all, once a year, that governments derive their just power from the consent of the governed? Can't a fellow _think_, that hears such things?" Later in the book, He runs away and, reunited with his wife and son among the anti-slavery Quakers, he makes it to Canada. And at the end of the novel, He chooses to take his family to the new African colony of Liberia, where he can use his intellectual gifts to help a large group of former slaves develop their own nation.

Is the poem “Retort” by Paul Laurence Dunbar free verse or formal verse?
Masteriza [31]

Answer: I believe it to be formal verse.

Explanation:

Formal verse is the name given to rhymed poetry that uses a strict meter. I googl ed the poem and it rhymed every other sentence and had a sort of beat to it.

Just to clarify, this is the poem I got when I searched it on Goog le:

"Thou art a fool,” said my head to my heart,

“Indeed, the greatest of fools thou art,

To be led astray by the trick of a tress,

By a smiling face or a ribbon smart;”

And my heart was in sore distress.

Then Phyllis came by, and her face was fair,

The light gleamed soft on her raven hair;

And her lips were blooming a rosy red.

Then my heart spoke out with a right bold air:

“Thou art worse than a fool, O head!”

What does Malala’s kite metaphor tell us about her beliefs on education?
____ [38]

Incomplete question. However, I inferred you are referring to the book "Malala, a Brave Girl from Pakistan/Iqbal, a Brave Boy from Pakistan: Two Stories of Bravery."

Explanation:

Remember, a metaphor is a figure of speech (a word or phrase that does not have a literal definition) rather the meaning is symbolic in nature.

Malala’s kite metaphor tells us her strong belief to attain true freedom to receive an education. According to the author, Malala's holding a firm grasp on her kite string shows her fight for freedom in an environment that despises female education.
