a) The two points about sleep that the speaker makes in <em>"Holy Sonnet 10" by Donne</em> are as follows:

  1. Sleep gives pleasure like rest.
  2. Death is like a short  sleep because it gives pleasure to human beings, enabling them to rest eternally.

b) The point about Death that the speaker makes with these comparisons is that death does not win the war it starts.  It only provides a gateway to eternal life. Therefore, people should not be wary of nor fear death.

c) The purpose of <em>"A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning"</em> differs from <em>"Holy Sonnet 10's"</em> purpose because <em>"A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning"</em> echoes the everlasting love that exists between a lover and his beloved even when separated by death.  On the other hand, <em>"Holy Sonnet 10"</em> is a mockery of death's powerlessness.

<h3>What is Holy Sonnet 10's main idea?</h3>

Holy Sonnet 10 admonishes people to <em>stop fearing death</em> and challenges death to <em>end its boastful stance</em>.  It also belittles death as a slave who provides rest and sleep for humans.

Thus, like the Bible, Holy Sonnet 10 asks death where its sting lies.
