If we let p and t be the masses of the paper and textbook, respectively, the equations that would best represent the given in this item are:

     (1)       20p + 9t = 44.4

     (2)       (20 + 5)p + (9 + 1)t = 51

The values of p and t from the equation are 0.6 and 3.6, respectively. Thus, each paperback weighs 0.6 pounds and each textbook weighs 3.6 pounds.

Answer:

Hello!!

Peter works at a bookstore. He packed 3 identical paperbacks and 2 identical textbooks in a box. The total mass of the books was 22.6 pounds. After he put 3 more textbooks and 1 more paperback in the box, the total mass of the books was 46 pounds.

The weight of the 3 textbooks and 1 paperback was <u>23.4 pounds.</u>

<u></u>

Step-by-step explanation:

46-22.6=23.4

Hope this helps!

For Part A) multiply the radius (28) by two in order to get the diameter. Take that product and multiply it by the "abbreviation" of pi that they give you (3.14). BAM, you get the circumference of the circle.

Part B) Because you're covering something, you need to find the area rather than the circumference (the distance around a circle). It's like needing to know the number of square units that can fit on a wall to figure out how many gallons of paint you need to cover it entirely.

Part C) Circumference, just I said.. the key word here is around. Distance around a circle !!

Find P(C|Y) from the information in the table.<br><br><br><br> To the nearest tenth, P(C|Y) =
seropon [69]
From the definition of conditional probability,

\mathbb P(C\mid Y)=\dfrac{\mathbb P(C\cap Y)}{\mathbb P(Y)}

and by the law of total probability,

\mathbb P(Y)=\mathbb P(Y\cap A)+\mathbb P(Y\cap B)+\mathbb P(Y\cap C)

In other words, each cell in the grid left of and above the total column and row represents the joint probabilities (e.g. \mathbb P(X\cap A)=\dfrac{32}{146}). So,

\mathbb P(C\mid Y)=\dfrac{15}{30}=\dfrac12=0.5

HELP NEEDED!!!! MUCH APPRECIATED
jeka94

We have

t_1 + t+2 = \dfrac{\sqrt{s}}{4} + \dfrac{s}{1100} = .5

Multiplying through by 1100,

275 \sqrt{s} + s = 550

275 \sqrt{s} = 550 - s

Squaring (which means we need to check later),

275^2 s = (550 - s)^2 = 550^2 - 1100 s + s^2

0 = s^2 - (1100 + 275^2) s + 550^2

0 = s^2 - 76725 s + 302500

s = \frac 1 2 (76725 \pm 1375 \sqrt{3113} )

s \approx 3.94285 \textrm{ or } s \approx 76721.0571

Clearly there's no way that giant number would work; must be extraneous.

Answer: 3.94
