History

Answer:

Segregation was not mandated by law in the Northern states, but a de facto system grew for schools, in which nearly all black students attended schools that were nearly all-black. In the South, white schools had only white pupils and teachers, while black schools had only black teachers and black students.

But state-sponsored segregation also existed in the North, and thousands of people joined in civil rights movements outside the South, from New York City to Boston to Detroit.

Which of the following is an example of how the emergence of railroads and canals affected the economy?
viva [34]

Answer:

C) Transporting goods became less expensive.

Explanation:

The railroad allowed raw materials to reach factories in the East and consumer goods to reach all parts of the United States in a timely manner. Railroads helped to create the cattle industry on the Plains immediately after the Civil War. Cattle brought low prices in Texas, but demand was higher on the East coast.

How did the constitutional convention meet William Jennings Bryan’s challenge to write the best constitution ever?
svetoff [14.1K]
<span>"It will be your own fault if you do not frame the best constitution ever written," William Jennings Bryan admonished the delegates who met in Guthrie in 1906 to draft Oklahoma's constitution. The members of the Constitutional Convention had invited Bryan to address them in person, but Bryan's schedule prevented him from attending; instead, he wrote a letter listing the items he hoped they would include. Statehood, however, proceeds from the writing of a state's constitution, and that process begins in the U.S. Congress.</span>
