Dear Sally,

I received your letter last week and I am happy to know that you are in radiant health and in good spirits.

It is my pleasure to let you know that an event on archaeology is scheduled in my hometown by the National Archaeological Department during the last two days of this month. Do you remember the visit we both made to the National Archaeological Museum last year? Seminars, exhibitions and theater events related to historical tools and the way people lived in those days are the highlights of the event. As we both are students of Archaeological, it will be a golden opportunity for us to be a part of the program. I know your little brother is also interested in historical things. Please make sure that you bring him along and you both can stay at my home. I request you to be here at least two days before the event as we both can go shopping in the town.

Hope to see you soon.

Margret

After reading both sentences and comparing them, we can choose the following options as to what the revised sentence does NOT do:

C. Use a participial phrase

What is a participial phrase?

 • A participial phrase is formed by a participle, present or past, and other words that complement the meaning of that participle. This type of phrase functions as an adjective in the sentence, modifying a noun.
 • Example: Exhausted by the exercise, Jason fell to the floor.

How about the revised sentence?

 • The revised sentence does not contain a participial phrase. Notice that we cannot find a participle at all in the sentence, be it present or past, much less a whole participial phrase.
 • The sentence, however, is compound. It also incorporates an equal adjective starter and uses an infinitive phrase (to change).
 • With the information above in mind, we can choose letter C as the correct option.
