Was very conservative such that some things could not be discussed or engaged in openly.
Society had expectations of people and those who didn't fit were labeled outsiders.
Many were disillusioned with this society especially the young. When Rock and Roll came with its controversial style, it represented the freedom these people wanted and so it gained popularity.
Many fled political and religious persecution. Others hoped to improve their condition by owning their own land or by participating in the fur trade. Some came as servants.
Pearl Harbor. The atomic bombs that we dropped on Japan was revenge for Pearl Harbor. We already had some issues with Japan but the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was the main reason for the atomic bombs that President Truman dropped on Japan.
