It was isolationist. The Americans were in the midst of rebuilding their economy that was now improving after the Great Depression and the effects of World War II. Many did not want to go to another war but after witnessing the atrocities committed by the Axis powers in Europe and Asia, they realize that it would only be a matter of time before they would be involved in the war. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the U.S. officially joined the war on the side of the allies.

The foreign policy of the United States was ‘Isolationist’ at the start of World War II in 1939.

Further Explanation:-

When President Roosevelt joined the office as the president of the United States in 1933, his main concern was to bring the American economy back on track which was going through the great depression. Despite this, President Roosevelt always kept his eye on foreign affairs. He was a believer in strong and good international relations and always thought that having good relations with neighboring countries will solve almost half of American domestic issues. He believed that great depression could come to end by strengthening ties with foreign traders and foreign markets instead of weakening them. During the period of the 1930s, the United States entered the period of deep isolationism as it started rejecting international conferences and they focused mostly on tariff agreements along with smaller countries of Latin America. The American isolationists advocated of noninvolvement in European and Asian conflicts. Although, United States took various measures in order to avoid political and military conflicts internationally as it continued to expand economically to protect its interests in Latin America. The foreign policy of the United States was ‘Isolationist’ at the start of World War II in 1939.

Why is Congress rarely called into Special Sessions today? Who has the power to call a Special Session?
Olenka [21]
In Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution, it states that the president has the power to call a Special Session. The reason why he rarely has to call a Special Session is because of the changes made by the 20th Amendment. Prior to the ratification of the 20th Amendment, Congress convened in December and typically adjourned in March. But after the ratification, Congress convenes on January 3 and typically does not adjourn until late in the year. So, the president rarely has to call Congress into session because Congress isn't generally out of session long.

Match each outcome with a weakness of the Articles of Confederation.
Masteriza [31]

Answer:

Explanation:

1. Congress was not given any power to tax the people

No taxes=no money to run the country

2. Congress had no power to enforce its own laws in the states

No enforcement=people in various states doing what they want

3. Congress could not make states follow trade agreements with other nations

Bad trading relations with other counties = no international trade

4. Congress could not regulate trade between the states.

High trading taxes between states = difficulty trading goods = slow business = lost jobs

5. Citizens in states thought their property rights were being violated

Violated property rights = need for national government to check the states

6. There was no national court system

No national court system = different systems by state = confusion in the justice system Interstate issues would have no courts to go to on the federal level No means of checking the laws of the legislature

7. There was no executive branch for the central government

This means there was no President or party responsible for enforcing laws; no authority behind the laws There was no figure head for the government No means of checking the policies created by the legislature (what happens when all power is in one branch of government?)

8. It required a unanimous vote to make changes to the Articles

This made it very difficult to make any changes to the Articles

9. Many farmers lost their farms and homes; some were even put in prison As a result, local farmers, led by Daniel Shays decided to rebel by shutting down the courts using force - they even raided a federal arsenal to take weapons for their rebellion

The purpose of this meeting was "for the sole and express purpose of revising the Articles of Confederation"...but they ended up creating a new U.S. Constitution.

uysha [10]

Answer:

One major source of disagreement between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Dubois was whether or not to use force as a means of racial integration. Washington believed that people of African race should learn to fit in with the whites (by exceding in work), whereas Dubois believed that riots and sit-ins were necessary to diminish racial inequality.
