I believe he did that in order to teach children how to interact with adults.
He was aware of his own surroundings in which children were impolite towards adults so he wanted to show what happens in the animal world. He wanted to portray young animals as polite and respectful, unlike human children who were unruly.

Read this passage from "The True Conception of Empire":
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer: A. where no considerable European settlement is possible.

In this excerpt, Chamberlain is discussing the limits and characteristics of the British Empire. In the line "where no considerable European settlement is possible," we can see Chamberlain's true opinions about the other regions of the empire.

The quote implies that European settlements are the "desirable" types of cities, and the height of development. Moreover, he expresses this idea in a way that implies that people living in tropical regions are incapable of sustaining a city of that type. This attitude suggests Chamberlain believes the British to be superior to other countries and cultures around the world.

.:|:. Evidence \ Reasoning .:|:.

The sentence "When the battle lost and won" tells the reader than a war is going on right now. This foreshadows the plot because we know what "The three" will soon meet up again in different circumstances. We are just waiting to know what circumstances. We don't have an idea an exact idea of what happens in the future, but we can tell that "the three" will once again meet up once the battle's "lost and won."
