Answer:

1st question: Before any trauma of the holocaust occurred, Elie's relationship with God was strong and his faith was unbreakable. He was devoted to his Orthodox Jewish heritage. He followed all prayers and practices of his religion and even studied the mystical Jewish secrets called Kabbalah during his free time at night.

2nd question: The first symbol that we can recognize when we are analyzing this Novel is a symbol of the title. The Night is symbolizing the death of an innocent, death of childhood, death and the end of faith, death of many people, death and the end of possible miracles. Since they lost their faith in God, the night also means a world without God and faith because they are representing brightness.''Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night, seven times cursed and seven times sealed. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky.'' b)The second symbol is fire and flames of it. They are representing hell and tool for punishing them which brought them to losing his faith. ''Never shall I forget those flames which consumed my faith forever.''

Make three inferences about General Zaroff. Provide an example from the text for each to explain how you know this.
Vsevolod [243]

Answer:

Despite the barbaric intent of General Zaroff's desire to hunt human beings, he still displays a sense of honor and chivalry that he must have maintained from his military days. When he announces that he plans to hunt Rainsford that night, Rainsford wonders what he can expect if the impossible happens--if he wins.

His clothes essentially depict him as an aristocrat, someone of a higher social class than Rainsford.  He is very distinguished looking; we assume he might be Russian because of Ivan who is a Cossack (like a Russian cavalryman).

General Zaroff is so skilled at hunting that he no longer finds enjoyment in hunting simple game like deer or ducks because he finds it too easy. He has been hunting for an extensive amount of time and he likes the challenge of hunting game without instinct but with reason. Rainsford is also a very smart and skilled hunter which interests General Zaroff for some exciting game.

General Zaroff began hunting humans because he became bored with hunting animals. He claimed that he lost interest in hunting animals, and he eventually realized that the reason was that he had become such a great hunter that the animals never eluded him.  So as he found that hunting animals meant no challenge to him anymore, he interested in hunting humans.

Why do you think people like to be frightened by scary movies? Write no less than 4 sentences.
hram777 [196]
ANSWER:

I believe people like to be frightened by horror movies because, of the thrill and the rush it can have on your body. The sensation people get from watching a scary movie is the same as going down a roller coaster. It’s exciting and exhilarating for some while others find it completely outlandish.
