Explanation:

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and colonizer. He took his ships called the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria on a voyage to Asia. There were some apprehensions along the journey and he decided to stop at the next available land.

The next available land was America and he met people there which were the main inhabitants. He however claimed to discover America and he forcefully took land from the inhabitants and took control of them.

Because America existed long before Columbus arrived. When him and their ships landed here, they did not discover a land, they took it. They stole their gold, raped their women and eventually destroyed all of the original culture, imposing the european way of living.
