The plaintiff in this question is Ms. Blair, while the defendant is Ms. Jaminez.

Who is a plaintiff?

This is a word that is used to refer to a person that brings a legal action against a person in the court of law.

In this question, Ms Blair is the one injured so she is the plaintiff who is suing.

Who is the defendant?

This is the person that is being sued in the law court. The owner of the building is the defendant here.

The defendant does not have to pay for the injury given the fact that they have placed precautionary actions for the users of the place. Ms Blair was careless.
