Read the passage from beowulf. Wealhtheow came in, hrothgar’s queen, observing the courtesies. Adorned in her gold, she gracio

usly saluted the men in hall, then handed the cup first to hrothgar, their homeland’s guardian, urging him to drink deep and enjoy it because he was dear to them. And he drank it down like the warlord he was, with festive cheer. So the helming woman went on her rounds, queenly and dignified, decked out in rings, offering the goblet to all ranks, treating the household and the assembled troop until it was beowulf’s turn to take it from her hand. With measured words she welcomed the geat and thanked god for granting her wish that a deliverer she could believe in would arrive to ease their afflictions. Which inference is most supported by the passage? wealhtheow is more interested in wealth and power than she is in the safety of her people. Wealhtheow is not pleased that beowulf and his men have arrived to fight with grendel. Wealhtheow is nervous speaking in front of beowulf and his men because she is afraid of them. Wealhtheow has not been impressed by the men who have fought grendel up to this point.

Through the text, we can infer that Wealhtheow was not impressed with the men who fought Grendel up to this point, as shown in the last answer option.

Why wasn't Wealhtheow impressed?

 • He knew about Grendel's power.
 • He had seen many men try to fight Grendel and failed.
 • He knew that men had no special powers.
 • He had no confidence in men.

Wealhtheow was unsure of the men who fought Grendel, which gave him a negative outlook and a lack of hope for any warriors. Also, the men were foreigners, which increased his distrust.

Phaethon and Sara’s desire to win the approval of their fathers affected their actions or changed them.
velikii [3]

Answer:

Changed them

Explanation:

Phaethon told Helios about the humiliation he had to suffer because of the imputation of illegitimacy. He pleaded Helios to recognize him as his son and establish beyond all doubt the legitimacy of his birth. Helios got deeply moved and firmly affirmed Phaethon's paternity and legitimacy. In fact, he declared, in the presence of all his attendants, that he will gladly grant his son any favour that he would ask him.

Phaethon, happy because great Helios had recognized him as his son, decided to test the limits of his father's love and benevolence. The rash boy asked to be allowed to drive the awesome Chariot of the Sun for one day. Helios was fearful at his son's irrational request. He tried to explain to his son that even the mighty Zeus could not presume to drive the Chariot of the Sun, much less a mere mortal. That onerous task was reserved solely for him, god Helios.

Unfortunately, once the gods had promised a favour, they could not withdraw or deny it. Helios used all his persuasive skills to plead the rash Phaethon to withdraw his outrageous demand, but to no avail. The boy insisted that Helios kept his promise. The god of the Sun could do nothing else but to give i
