The Gilded Age was a time in American history that received its name due to the huge fortunes it created for different citizens. During this era, robber barons became an integral part of society. Robber barons were individuals who became rich/dominant in a particular industry through business deals. Some examples of robber barons include John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and JP Morgan.
John D. Rockefeller represented the Gilded Age well during this time. His monopoly on the oil industry allowed him to be considered one of the richest people in American history. At one point, Rockefeller controlled roughly 90% of the oil consumed in the United States. This allowed Rockefeller to live a lavish lifestyle.
Slavery started because people liked having other people work for free, so they enslaved others. They were brought by ships from Africa. They would usually work on farms and ranches. The jobs were different because of the climate. One type of climate made it possible to grow cotton, another to grow tobacco, another for crops, and so on. They were important because they were free. Since wealthy land owners didn't have to pay workers, they got extremely rich because they had almost no losses at all.
They devastated much of Europe and created many enemies for France. the German states became a united European power.but the net effect was the return of the bourbon monarchy under Louis xvlll to franc.
Paying taxes is a responsibility for ALL American citizens. Registering for the selective service is for MALES. Serving in the military isn’t a responsibility it’s a choice. And voting is for people 18 or above.
