•find lowest common denominator
—> 3/4*3 m + -2/3*4m= 5 + -2

•multiply denominator
—> 3/12m + -2/12m = 5 + -2

•combine like terms

•simplify the arithmetic
—> m= 3 over 1/12
—> m= 36
