Three laws from Hammurabi's Code are:

  • If a man steals goods from a temple or from a house, he should be executed.
  • If a man steals a child, he should be put to death.
  • If a man is captured while stealing, he should be put to death.

These laws describe theft so those involved are the thieves and the people who are stolen from.

They describe the penalties for engaging in criminal activities related to theft.

People were now starting to earn profit from trading in crops so these laws wanted to make it as hard as possible for people to steal from others and to encourage agriculture.
