Problem solving approach / planned change process was a model of thinking used with an aim to solve problems brought by Helen Harris Perlman.

This evolved into planned change approach out of a more recent focus on strength and resources.

Social work is an academic discipline and a practice based profession that is concerned with families, individuals, groups and communities and society as a whole with an effort to meet basic needs and enhance responsibility and an overall well-being.

The changed planned process Involved the development and implementation of a strategy for improving or changing some specified condition, pattern of behavior, or circumstances in an effort to improve social functioning.

There are different stages involved in problem solving approach and they are as follows:

  • Engagement.
  • Assessment.
  • Planning.
  • Implementation.
  • Evaluation.
