<u>Rap </u><span>began as a kind of rhythmically accented poetic recitation accompanied by a disk jockey who manipulated recordings on two turntables to create a collage of rhythmic effects. Nowadays, rap is a bit different than what it used to sound like back in the day, although many of its features are still very present even today. This poetic recitation is still an important characteristic of rap, and it is often followed by some type of usually electronic music. </span>
