Find a formula for the nth term of the arithmetic sequence first term -17 common difference 5
hoa [83]

Given :-

 • First term of an AP is -17 .
 • Common difference is 5 .

To Find :-

 • The formula for the nth term .

Solution :-

We know that the nth term of an AP is given by ,

T_n = a +(n-1)d

where ,

 • a is the First term .
 • n is the number of the term .
 • d is the common difference .
 • T_n is the nth term .

On substituting the respective values we have ,

T_n = -17 + (n -1)5 \\

Open the brackets ,

T_n = -17 + 5n - 5

Simplify ,

T_n = 5n -22

what is the greatest possible are of a triangle with one side of length 7 and another side of length 10?
Reil [10]
Area of a triangle = \frac{1}{2} (a)(b)sin(C).

a=7
b=10

The largest possible value for sin(C) is 1, which is sin(90)

So area = \frac{1}{2} (7)(10)sin(90)
= \frac{1}{2} (7)(10)(1)
=35
