Answer: Greek democracy created at Athens was direct, rather than representative: any adult male citizen over the age of 20 could take part, and it was a duty to do so. The officials of the democracy were in part elected by the Assembly and in large part chosen by lottery in a process called sortition.

Analyze Primary Sources What did Theodore Roosevelt mean when he said he believed in a ""square deal""?
Eddi Din [679]

When Theodore Roosevelt said he believed in a "square deal", it meant that every person was entitled to a fair deal. Roosevelt advocated for making sure that both the American people and American corporations should gain from this.

A fair agreement between two parties is referred to as a "square deal" in its original sense. Roosevelt was of the opinion that a settlement had to be fair to both industry and labor in order to resolve the issues between them in the United States.

Roosevelt hoped to alleviate many of the issues brought on by the Gilded Age through the Square Deal. The Square Deal addressed corporate governance, consumer safeguards, and environmental preservation.
