John McWhorter is an American linguist, born 1965. Through his academic work he mostly focuses on Creole language forms and it's relationship with other languageges.

He calls texting a "fingered speech". It has its own distinct rules and structure. For him texting presents a linguistic miracle which is inventing its own grammar.
