* all were white males (many were wealthy)
* over 1/2 were lawyers
* many had helped their state constitutions
* 7 were governors of their states
* some fought in the Am. Revolution
* 8 signed the Declaration of Indepdence
The only power from the list that was given to the national government under the Articles of Confederation was "<span>(E) The power to declare war," since the Articles were intentionally "weak" in that they left most of the political and military power with the individual states. </span><span />
Many African Americans were given jobs during the war so when the returning soldiers came home at the end of the war only to find that African Americans had taken over their jobs, it created racial tensions between them.
