Sulphur dioxide reaches the atmosphere, it oxidizes to first form a sulphate ion.

The sulphate ion joins with hydrigen atoms in the air and becomes sulphuric acid. This then falls back down to earth as "acid rain"

During meiosis, when does the ploidy (number of sets of chromosomes) get reduced from diploid (2n) to haploid (n)?
I am Lyosha [343]

During meiosis, the ploidy (number of sets of chromosomes) get reduced from diploid (2n) to haploid (n) once telophase I of meiosis I is complete.

What is meiosis?

Meiosis is the type of cell division that results in the formation of four daughter cells that are genetically different from one another.

Meiosis is the process that results in the formation of gametes or sex cells in organisms that reproduce sexually.

The process of meiosis is made up of four stages that occurs in two successive divisions;

 • Prophase
 • Metaphase
 • Anaphase
 • Telophase

Meiosis reduces the ploidy level of a cell by halving the number of chromosomes of the parent cell. This occurs after the completion of telophase 1 of meiosis I where homologous chromosomes have already separated.
