Answer: D. Many workers were killed when police were ordered to shoot them.

On January 22, 1905, about 200,000 workers and their families approached the czar's Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. They carried a petition asking for better working conditions, more personal freedom, and an elected national legislature. Nicholas II's general ordered soldiers to fire on the crowd. More than 1,000 were wounded and several hundred were killed. Bloody Sunday provoked a wave of strikes and violence that spread across the country, which led to Nicholas II's reluctant approval of the creation of the Duma(first met in May 1906). Its leaders were moderates who wanted Russia to become a constitutional monarchy similiar to Britain. But because he was hesitant to share his power, the Czar dissolved the Duma after ten weeks.

After the democracy demonstrations in tiananmen square which types of liberties did the chinese government permit
Murrr4er [49]
The correct answer is that they granted economic freedoms but not political freedoms. This means that they opened up a bit and became a bit more capitalist, but political freedoms were still forbidden and people would not be able to protest certain things or say certain things out loud or speak against the government and its choices.

PLEASE HELP! How were Spartan & Athenian governments different?
jarptica [38.1K]
Answer: B

explanation: Sparta was ruled by two kings, who ruled until they died or were forced out of office. Athens was ruled by archons, who were elected annually. Thus, because both parts of Athens' government had leaders who were elected, Athens is said to have been the birthplace of democracy. Spartan life was simple.
