There are actually 5 major types of literature. Those are as follows:
Fiction
Non-Fiction
Prose
Drama
Poetry
You can express yourself through all of them. The oldest form is most likely poetry while the newest one is definitely Media (which includes things of the modern world such as movies and graphic novels).
