I guess you want to calculate the value of e. If so then:

-8.e = 4 . Divide both sides by 4:

-2.e = 1. Divide both sides by 2:
-e = 1/2. Multiply both sides with (-):

e = - 1/2

Given:

The base of the given triangle has two part:

Left( left side of the hypotenuse) = 25

Right ( right side of the hypotenuse) = x

The altitude (h) = 60

To find the value of x.

Formula:

By Altitude rule we know that, the altitude of a triangle is mean proportional between the right and left part of the hypotenuse,

\frac{left}{altitude} =\frac{altitude}{right}

Now,

Putting,

left = 25, altitude = 60 and right = x we get,

\frac{25}{60} = \frac{60}{x}

or,  (25)(x)=(60)(60) [ by cross multiplication]

or, x= \frac{3600}{25}

or, x=144

Hence,

The value of x is 144.

charle [14.2K]
To get the exponential model we use the form:
y=abˣ
where:
a=initial value
b=growth factor
y=number of years
thus using point (1,63) and (2,226)
the growth factor will be:
b=(226/63)=3.587~3.6
a=63
thus the formula for the function will be:
A(y)=a(3.6)^y
substituting (1,63) in the equation and solving for a.
63=a(3.6)^1
thus
a=63/3.6=17.5
hence the formula will be:
A(y)=17.82(3.6)^y

Answer: D] 17.5(3.6)^y

2] The number of acres defoliated after 5 years will be as follows:
y=5 years
A(y)=17.82(3.6)^y
plugging in the value we get:
A(y)=17.82(3.6)^5
simplifying the above
A(y)=10775.07
A(y)=10775

Answer: D
