Mario and Patience are making cookies. They are ready to drop balls of dough on baking sheets. They have baking sheets made of t

reated glass, aluminum, stainless steel, and copper. The specific heats of these substances are: Treated glass = 0. 75 J/g • °C Aluminum = 0. 90 J/g • °C Stainless steel = 0. 50 J/g • °C Copper = 0. 39 J/g • °C Based on the specific heat values, which sheet is going to warm up the quickest, and, therefore, bake the cookies the fastest?.

The sheet used by Mario and Patience which is going to warm up the quickest, and, therefore, bake the cookies the fastest is copper sheet.

<h3>What is specific heat?</h3>

The specific heat of a substance is the amount of heat needed, to raise the temperature of the of one gram of substance by unit degree Celsius.

The specific heat capacity of the substance can be given as,

C=\dfrac{Q}{m\Delta T}

Here, (m) is the mass of the substance, (Q) is heat energy and

is the change in temperature.

The above formula can be rewritten as,

{Q}={m\Delta T}C

By this formula, we can say that the heat energy is directly proportional to the specific heat of the substance.

Thus the value of heat energy required to warm up the substance will be higher with the higher value of specific heat and result of it the substance require more time to warm up.

Here, the specific heats of these substances are:

Treated glass = 0. 75 J/g • °C

Aluminum = 0. 90 J/g • °C

Stainless steel = 0. 50 J/g • °C

Copper = 0. 39 J/g • °C

In the above data, the value of specific heat of copper is less than other three substances.

Hence, the sheet used by Mario and Patience which is going to warm up the quickest, and, therefore, bake the cookies the fastest is copper sheet.

Find the slope between these two points: (3, -10) and (-2, -30). Show all of your work. what the answer
Harlamova29_29 [7]

\huge\text{$m=\boxed{4}$}

Hey there! Start with the slope formula, where (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) are the two known points.

\begin{aligned}m&=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\&=\frac{-30-(-10)}{-2-3}\end{aligned}

Simplify.

\begin{array}{c|l}\textbf{Solving}&\textbf{Reason}\\\cline{1-2}\\m=\dfrac{-30+10}{-2-3}&x-(-y)=x+y\\\\m=\dfrac{-20}{-5}&\text{Addition and subtraction}\\\\m=\dfrac{20}{5}&\text{The negatives cancel out}\\\\m=\dfrac{4}{1}&\text{Divide the numerator and denominator by $5$}\\\\m=\boxed{4}&\dfrac{x}{1}=x\end{aligned}

The half life of a certain substance is about 4 hours. The graph shows the decay of a 50 gram sample of the substance that is me
olga55 [171]
I can't see how any of those formulas show exponential decay.  (Did you type those correctly?)

The formula that will show the remaining amount correctly is:
ending amount = Bgng Amount / 2^n
where "n" is the number of haf-lives.

So, for example if half life = 4 hours and if we want to calculate the amount after 9 hours (that's 2.25 half-lives) then:
ending amount = Bgng Amount / 2^n
ending amount = 50 / (2^(9/4))
ending amount = 50 / 2^2.25
ending amount = 50 / <span><span><span>4.75682846 </span>
</span></span><span><span>ending amount = </span> 10.5112 grams
</span>Looking at the graph, we see that's about right.
