The following exercise refers to choosing two cards from a thoroughly shuffled deck. Assume that the deck is shuffled after a ca

rd is returned to the deck.
If you do not put the first card back in the deck before you draw the next, what is the probability that the first card is a club and the second one is black? (Enter your probability as a fraction.)

Using it's concept, it is found that there is a \frac{13}{102} probability that the first card is a club and the second one is black.

<h3>What is a probability?</h3>

A probability is given by the <u>number of desired outcomes divided by the number of total outcomes</u>.

In this problem:

  • In a deck, there are 52 cards, of which 13 are clubs, hence P(A) = \frac{13}{52} = \frac{1}{4}.
  • Then, of the remaining 51 cards, 26 are black, hence P(B) = \frac{26}{51}.

Then:

p = P(A)P(B) = \frac{1}{4} \times \frac{26}{51} = \frac{13}{102}

\frac{13}{102} probability that the first card is a club and the second one is black.

Answer 2(4/3w + w)<br><br>the perimeter is 28 inches.<br>what is the area of the rectangle?
PSYCHO15rus [73]
2(4/3w+w) = 28”
(7/3w)=28”/2
3(7/3w) = 14”(3)
7w=42”
w=6"
Formula for perimeter is 2L + 2w = perimeter
2L + 2(6”) = 28”
2L = 28” - 12”
2L = 16”
 L = 16”/2
 L= 8”
 Area = L(w)
 Area = 8”(6”)
 Area = 48 square inches

Find the product of z1 and z2, where z1 = 2(cos 80° + i sin 80°) and z2 = 9(cos 110° + i sin 110°)
nekit [7.7K]
ANSWER

z_1 z_2=18( \cos( 190 \degree  )  + i \sin( 190 \degree) )

EXPLANATION

The given complex numbers are;

z_1 = 2( \cos(80 \degree)  + i \sin(80 \degree) )

and

z_2= 9( \cos(110 \degree)  + i \sin(110 \degree) )

Recall the binominal identity for complex numbers in polar form.

z_1 z_2=r_1 r_2( \cos( \theta_1 +\theta_2)  + i \sin(\theta_1 +\theta_2) )

We apply this property to obtain,

z_1 z_2=2 \times 9( \cos( 80 \degree +  110 \degree  )  + i \sin(80 \degree +  110 \degree) )

z_1 z_2=18( \cos( 190 \degree  )  + i \sin( 190 \degree) )
