Answer:

Changes (or variations) in the gene for that characteristic cause these different forms. Each variation of a gene is called an allele.  These two copies of the gene contained in your chromosomes influence the way your cells work. The two alleles in a gene pair are inherited, one from each parent.

Explain why the chromosomes in the haploid cells that are produced by meiosis I look different than those produced by meiosis II
scoundrel [369]
In meiosis one, homologous chromosomes only separate resulting in two cells. In meiosis II, the cells divide further, separating sister chromatids and resulting in four cells. So the cells are just even smaller with less chromosomes in each one.

What is a telomere? What happens to telomeres each time DNA is replicated? How do cells prevent this from occurring?
vredina [299]
Telomeres are protective sequences of nucleotides found at the ends of chromosomes,Which become shorter every time a cell divides.
A gradual degeneration of an organism occurs, resulting in ageing.
However, some cells are able to replenish their telomeres using the enzyme telomerase.
Hope this helps! :)

Can a human make amino acids or does he or she have to always get amino acids from eating food?
meriva
Humans get amino acids from protiens in the food we eat. As we digest the food, the enzymes in our stomach and small intestines break down proteins into small amino acids. So technically, we do not make amino acids, we get amino acids from eating food high in protiens.

Materials are transported within a single celled organism by the
Bess [88]
You may be referring to the cytoplasm here. That is the "filling" within the cell. But if you are looking for specific transport of proteins, the ER folds proteins and then transport vesicles move them to the Golgi.
