You might want to know the conditions of the place... like is it a cold place or a warm place or a hot place? This will lead to what you should bring on your trip.

Research Topic 2 : The Culture
You want to know about the history of what you'll be seeing, or the culture of where you're going.
Maybe the history behind the monuments, statues, temples, and / or other things you'll see there.
You also might want to know about the people there. Like, if your going to China, you would want to know that the people there are Chinese... and you'll want to know how they live and stuff like that.
You also might want to know the rules what's considered rude there. For example, it's considered rude to cross your chopsticks. In Japan, it's considered rude to cross your legs.
