Answer:

This quote is basically explaining how people have these visions of themselves and how they want to be to other people, and this is what makes their future. You can't have a future with no plan. Literally. It doesn't have to be 5 years ahead, or even <em>1</em> year, but it has to at least be a minute, or two. To do even the simplest things, you need a plan, and this plan for yourself is what makes you who you are and will be. These "stories" are about you and where you want to be headed.
