The year 1917 was important of the Wright brothers because?
il63 [147K]

The Year 1917 was very important for the Wright Brothers as it was the year when their Patent was going to expire.

The Wright brothers are widely regarded as the pioneers of winged and controlled flight. Since their test flight in 1903 at Kitty Hawk, the Brothers not only became famous for their invention but also notorious for their absurd patent war tactics.

After their invention many local as well as international engineers had developed workable concepts of an airplane. Many of which were actually more advanced and safer than their version.

They knew their patent would expire in 1917 and before that, they launched massive patent wars all over the world to protect their invention and more importantly collect fees.

the battle of midway was a battle in the pacific ocean. Since the japans attack pearl harbor the US did`t have a boat yard for their ships. Plus in those moments the japans took control of half of the pacific ocean. Then the US found out that japan was going to send another raid through air again. So they armored up and went to spy on what the japans had. Spotted the japans had 3 aircraft carriers 50 support ships and 233 planes and 127 land based planes and 8 submarines. The US where out number the US gave no chances and headed to attack they send in their aircraft carrier and the war begins. the US send numerous planes to attack all 3 carriers and they succeed to destroy two. But one remains then the last japans carrier send all it`s bomber planes to attack the US Yorktown sadly the Yorktown got destroyed but they never lost heart. The US attack the last japans carrier and succeed. This showed that not only the US could fight back but they had awoken the beast of war.

the battle of El Alamein  was a fight in Egypt that the Axis power Italy and Germany wanted to get into Egypt but they had to fight off united kingdom, united states, free french, south Africa, new Zealand, Australia, India, Palestine, and Ceylon. This powers gained forces to stop the axis to push into Egypt. Their was a first and second battle the first battle was to not lit the Axis powers in so they mad e a huge defense to hold them off. But the Germans where to strong especially with Italy so in the first battle the Axis power got through and the Allies had to fall back somewhere else. And the second attack was at a near Egypt railroad then that where they made their last stand the Allies gave all they had and fought with valor. With the help of the US sending in air support to the Allies that helped them a lot and with the new tanks and weapons used like the Churchill division they made a last stand to push the Axis power out.

1. Was “labor violence” inevitable and unavoidable ? What factors played into causing much of the confrontation between unions a
san4es73 [151]

Labor unrest and confrontations between labor unions and employers in the United States has been present basically since the 19th century, as a response to the impact of the Industrial Revolution. National labor unions began in the post Civil War era and one of the first documented started operating in the 1880's, when most of the unrest began in response to the abuse and unfair treatment and lack of legal protection for workers against the big companies. Many of the industries were hit hard by the formation of these unions, but none more than the railroad and steel industries. 1. Labor violence could have been prevented and could have been avoided if: a) laws had been passed to protect workers better and b) If part of the plan of employers and officials to disband unions had not been to introduce spies and agitators into the unions´ ranks to create unrest so that the union would be blamed for causing trouble. 2. The unions were created to prevent the abuse of employers on workers on the topics of salary, worker´s unfair replacement, compensations. But also, to create a monopoly, meaning, workers wanted to ensure that companies could not simply get rid of workers from the union to replace them with non-unionized laborers. Usually these unions used strikes to put forth their demands and in many ocassions ended up attacking and killing strikebreakers and replacement workers instead of the employers themselves. 3. Because the formation of unions meant that workers were for the first time not willing to simply follow the instructions and demands of a company. They began joining together in an attempt to demand better working conditions, something companies did not have to face up until then. Also, the result of these constant strikes and the violence forced the state and national governments to take measures and pass laws that in the end did not benefit their companies.
