The answer is " his sentences are short and direct". When your begin to read " In Another Country", you find that their kind of short and not drawn out. I didn't say flowing because his writing didn't sound "flowy". He gets straight to the point.

Line twelve- during this time it was getting more and more intense
line 13- we dont know when the war will end
line14- use of melancholy to express real sorry and make the effect more powerful
line 17- use violence in the prescence of silence to show that everyone is devestated and that are no real words to describe the pain that the war is causing
line 18- the air is deadly as well, not quite literally but to give an image of what it is like to be there.
