Divya spends all of her free time playing with her building blocks. She owns building block sets with 333 pieces, 555 pieces, an

d 101010 pieces. Divya knows she owns 555 sets with 555 pieces and 222 sets with 101010 pieces. She also knows that she averages 555 pieces per set. This information is summarized in the table below

Answer:

 5 sets

Step-by-step explanation:

The average number of pieces per set is the ratio of the total number of pieces to the total number of sets.

Let x represent the number of 3-piece sets. Then the total number of pieces is ...

 3x +5(5) +10(2) = 3x +45

The total number of sets is ...

 x +5 +2 = x +7

We want the ratio of these numbers to be 5 pieces per set:

 (3x +45)/(x +7) = 5

 3x +45 = 5x +35 . . . . . multiply by (x+7)

 10 = 2x . . . . . . . . . . subtract (3x+35)

 5 = x . . . . . . . . . divide by 2

Divya owns 5 sets with 3 pieces.

_____

Alternate solution

Each 10-piece set has 5 more pieces than average, so the two of them total 10 more pieces than average.

Each 3-piece set has 2 fewer pieces than average. The total number of 3-piece sets must have a total of 10 fewer pieces than average in order to balance the excess of the 10-piece sets. That is, there must be 10/2 = 5 of the 3-piece sets to have a total lof 10 fewer pieces than average.

Altogether, the differences from average must total zero.

What do the graphs of all arithmetic sequences have in common
jasenka [17]
Think of how arithmetic sequences act. They start at a given number, and then they march up or down by the same distance each time. For example:

3, 7, 11, 15, 19, ...

this one marches up by 4 each time.

If this is plotted on a graph, the first point is (1,3), then (2,7), then (3,11), then (4,15) and so on. You'll notice that the slope is the same between all the points. In other words, you get a straight line! This is true for any arithmetic sequence.

Find the value of x in the isosceles triangle shown.
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the base of the triangle is 6 and the line dividing the triangle is x. To get x divide the triangle into two equal halves. When you do so,you’ll have a right triangle with x as the opposite , 8 as the hypotenuse and the adjacent as 3.

Using Pythagoras theorem, we have

8^2 = x^2 + 3^2

8 x 8 = x^2 + 3 x 3

64 = x^2 + 9

Subtract 9 from both sides

64 - 9 = x^2 + 9 - 9

55 = x^2

X^2 = 55

x = squared root of 55

x = 7.4

x = 7

I need help for this one do I add them up and equal them to 180?
nikitadnepr [17]
The measure of angle 1 is 210 degrees.

You'll have to draw an auxiliary line in between the two parallel lines.

Then, you'll have to find out the angle measures next to 100 and next to 50. Since a line is 180°, then the angle measures next to 100 and 50 are 80 and 130 respectively.

Then, since you have an auxiliary line, you can use the rule of alternate interior angles of parallel lines being equal.

Then from there just add up 80 and 130 to get you 210.
