Answer: interference

The communication consists of eight essential elements. They are the source, message, channel, receiver, feedback, environment, context, and interference. A ringing cell phone or an audience member browsing the web on her laptop during a speech are examples of interference.

Interference is anything which disrupts communication. It is a noise or unwanted signal which travels from the source to the receiver.

Why do you think the author called the book the giver instead of the receiver
Bogdan [553]

Answer:

The term "The Giver" refers to the old man, the former Receiver, who transfers all his memories to Jonas. The very names "Giver" and "Receiver" remind us of one of the book's central themes: memory is meant to be shared. ... But, more interestingly, Jonas becomes The Giver when he gives his memories to Gabriel.

Answer:

Explanation:

1. There are three main types of glacial erosion - plucking, abrasion and freeze thaw.

2. A nunatak is the summit or ridge of a mountain that protrudes from an ice field or glacier that otherwise covers most of the mountain or ridge. They are also called glacial islands. Examples are natural pyramidal peaks.

3. A lateral moraine forms along the sides of a glacier. As the glacier scrapes along, it tears off rock and soil from both sides of its path. This material is deposited as lateral moraine at the top of the glacier's edges. Lateral moraines are usually found in matching ridges on either side of the glacier

4. These scratches, "striations," can be used to understand past ice flow. ... Over time, the glacier moves over rock and sediment, leaving striations or striae, on the rock surfaces that can reveal the direction that the glacier was flowing

5. They form in bowl-shaped depressions, also known as bedrock hollows or cirques, located on the side of, or near mountains. They characteristically form by the accumulation of snow and ice avalanching from upslope areas

In at least 150 words, explain how the word choice in Rukeyser's "Poem" helps the author to establish a theme in the text. Use d
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

"I lived in the first century of world wars" is the opening line of "Poem" by Muriel Rukeyser (1913-1980) an American poet and political activist. Her best-known poems are about social justice, equality and feminism. Her choice of words establishes her anti-war theme and her efforts to oppose war through her poetry:

"Slowly I would get to pen and paper,

Make my poems for others unseen and unborn.

In the day I would be reminded of those men and women,

Brave, setting up signals across vast distances,

Considering a nameless way of living, of almost not imagined values."

She felt her poetry, which would outlive her, would be a message to those "unseen and unborn" who could work to promote peace and justice.

"We would try by any means

To reach the limits of ourselves, to reach beyond ourselves,

To let go the means, to wake."

Here Rukeyser was passing on the baton, as it were, to the generations "beyond ourselves" in the hope that they would be more purposeful peacemakers.
