There are a few main categories of antibiotic resistance, enzymatic degradation of antibacterial drugs,  alteration of bacterial proteins that are antimicrobial targets as well as changes in membrane permeability to antibiotics. Some of antibiotic resistance bacteria are called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE), multi-drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) gut bacteria.
