In order for Rome to claim more land and expand their empire, they had to go into war for the land. For example, Rome went into what is called the "Punic Wars" against the Carthage Empire for land, and Rome won the wars. Another war was against each other, the cause of the civil war against Romans was because of power, and Romans wanted power over each other so they could have the land that they fought for.
